Recently, Chinese Social Sciences Research Evaluation Center published a list of source periodicals for Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI), which was approved by Ministry of Education. Journal of South China Agricultural University (Social Science Edition) formally became one of the source periodicals of CSSCI.

As an authoritative tool for literature information inquiry and evaluation of social humanity science in China, CSSCI provides various information retrievals, such as source literature, cited literature and optimized retrieval system. The source periodical is chosen strictly according to the total cited times, the influential factors of successive 3 years and the qualitative evaluation of the literature.

Journal of South China Agricultural University (Social Science Edition) was launched in 2002. It participates in the important domestic periodical databases and has been awarded many times for its excellence within 5 years. Entering CSSCI marks a new stage and a higher academic level for Journal of SCAU (Social Science Edition).
